Client
A Japanese manufacturer specialising in hair care and wigs, with salons nationwide offering personalised consultations and custom-made wigs.
Background
A competition was held for a new luxury salon in a prime location in Ginza. Among six participating firms, this design was selected.
Client needs
A more VIP-oriented store than previous locations: a luxurious, private space for a truly exclusive experience.
Design response
Based on the keyword of silk, the design proposes a refined, elegant and smoothly enveloping space with a sense of comfort. The ceiling is shaped to gently envelop the room and is the symbolic feature of the entrance. Curved lines connect floor and ceiling from the façade through the entrance and into the corridor, guiding customers deeper into the salon. A softly rounded, feminine counter completes the space. A material board and a furniture proposal, spacious and softly rounded, supported the competition entry.
